My Go-To Matcha Banana Smoothie

Matcha Banana SmoothieAlright you guys, let’s talk smoothies! They’re one of my favorite go-to morning meals, especially on days when I’m heading to an early workout or don’t feel like cooking. Today happened to be one of the latter… mostly because I had smoothie recipes on the brain as soon as I woke up. For those of you who answered the poll on my Instagram Story, thank you so much for voting! And don’t worry, if this matcha banana smoothie recipe wasn’t what you were hoping for I’ll still be doing a DIY rose bath blog post when I’m back from my Euro adventures!

As most of you know, I’m a huge fan of matcha (literally just talked about it in my last Friday Favorites post). Not only is it great in latte form but I also think it’s a fantastic and nutritous addition to any morning smoothie! This particular recipe is so easy and only requires a handful of ingredients which I’m sure many of you already have. 

I’ve added the recipe card below so you can easily share, pin, save, etc. However, before you do that let’s quickly go into the “why” for each of the ingredients I use. 

Matcha Banana Smoothie Recipe

Ingredient benefits:  

  • 1 1/2 tsp matcha (I use Tenzo Tea): 
    • 1 cup of matcha has 10x more antioxidants than green tea! It also gives you a great boost of energy (without the crash), enhances your mood, detoxifies your body, and more
  • 2 frozen bananas
    • Provides a sweet, creamy texture for the smoothie and is full of nutrients like potassium and vitamin B9, which helps reduce stress, minimize bloating, and even fight depression
  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk 
    • Great non-dairy base for the smoothie and is about half the calories of cow’s milk 
  • 1 heaping tbsp cashew butter 
    • Naturally sweet, full of healthy fats, and keeps you feeling satiated all morning long
  • 1 tsp manuka honey (I like Comvita) 
    • The most beneficial type of honey in the world — it’s antimicrobrial, boosts immunity, improves sleep, and more
  • Pinch of cinnamon: 
    • Reduces inflammation and is another great source of antioxidants 
  • 1 serving Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides
    • Enhances appearance of hair, skin and nails. It also improves digestion and boosts joint health
  • Large handful of ice 
    • Makes the smoothie cold (duh), thick and refreshing

Ingredients
  1. 1 1/2 tsp matcha powder
  2. 2 frozen bananas
  3. 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  4. 1 tbsp cashew butter
  5. 1 tsp manuka honey
  6. 1 serving collagen-peptides
  7. 1 pinch of cinnamon
  8. 1 large handful of ice
Instructions
  1. Put all ingredients into blender, starting with dry items and ending with almond milk and ice
  2. Blend on high speed for 1 minute
  3. Serve and enjoy!

All you have to do is add all ingredients to a blender (starting with the dry ingredients and finishing with ice). Blend for 1 minute on high speed and voila! It’s sweet, creamy and tastes SO delicious.

As we enter what may feel like the busiest time of year, let this be your guide to ✨resetting your nervous system✨ so that you can help regulate stress and return to a state of calm 

GIVE YOURSELF A RELEASE
when your body just needs to let go of any pent up tension, stress or anxiety — movement and allowing yourself to FEEL all of the emotions can be the best medicine

GROUND YOURSELF IN THE PRESENT
after releasing the feelings and energy, try a few grounding practices to reorient your nervous system and come back to the present moment 

ACTIVATE THE RELAXATION RESPONSE
slow down and help your body transition to the parasympathetic nervous system (otherwise known as the ā€œrest & digestā€ state) with activities like breathwork, yoga, or even a long hug 

GET SUPPORT FROM LOVED ONES
intentionally surround yourself with people who help you regulate your stress vs add to it. The feeling of being safe and supported can’t ever be underestimated 

PRIORITIZE DEEP REST 
at the end of the day, practicing good sleep hygiene and prioritizing rest can be the best thing you do for your mind and body. These restorative moments allow for your nervous system to truly reset and recover

I know Nov 1st may seem a little early to start celebrating the Christmas season for some but I always feel like this time of year flies by too fast. So decorating our home early and starting all the fun Christmas baking, crafts and festive activities feels like a special way to make the most of the holidays ā¤ļø

The person who sent you this wants to have a spooky date night in to celebrate Halloween šŸŽƒ

Halloween isn’t my fav holiday but I do love a themed cozy evening with my favorite person… and it feels even more special these days as new parents. So we decided to have a SPOOKY date complete with homemade pizzas (with ghost shaped mozzarella), blackberry smash cocktails, a candle painting craft, pumpkin ice cream, and a rewatch of ā€œHaunting of Bly Manorā€ šŸ–¤ 

PS: I’m not a big horror movie fan but this show is such a well done metaphor of how grief can haunt you and the tone feels much more gothic romance than classic jump scares 

Anywaaay, after tomorrow I’m looking forward to decorating our home for Christmas and you can expect lots of cozy, whimsical ideas to savor and celebrate the holiday season coming soon ā˜ŗļø

The gals showed up in costume and @ritual_indoorcycling led us through such a fun 45 min ride with all the best spooky vibes šŸ–¤

Lily was invited to her first Halloween party yesterday so we obviously had to dress up as one of the most iconic, creepy + kooky families ever! And I know I’m so biased but I don’t think I’ve seen a cuter Wednesday Addams 🄹

Such a fun way to celebrate spooky season (and a pretty easy family costume if you’re in need of something last minute!)
