Hi friends! It’s been awhile since I’ve talked skincare so I figured I’d give you all an update on the latest products I’m using. Some of you may remember when I talked about Tula earlier this year.
Tula is a cruelty-free beauty brand that blends probiotics (“good” bacteria) and ingredients like retinol, vitamins and antioxidants into powerful skincare products.
I’ve been very partial to their Purifying Cleanser and Exfoliating Treatment Mask for quite some time, so you can imagine how excited I was when they told me they were launching something new earlier this month.
Say hello to the Kefir Collection! I’ve been using the Replenishing Cleanser Oil and Moisture Repair Pressed Serum every day for the past 3 weeks and I’m absolutely OBSESSED. Not only have they done wonders in improving my skin’s look and texture, but they’re also formulated without parabens, phthalates, sulfates or petrolatum.
Before I go into the details of my personal experience, I’ll address the two questions you’re most likely asking:
Why probiotics?
Applying probiotics to your skin can stimulate the production of defense cells that restore your skin’s natural balance and stabilize its immune system. Not only does this help your skin look healthy, young, and clear, but it also decreases sensitivity, redness and inflammation.
What in the world is Kefir?
Kefir (‘keh-feer’) is a fermented milk drink rich in probiotics, vitamins and minerals, and known for its immense health benefits. It originates from the North Caucasus Mountains of Russia and dates back to the 1800s when women of the region put it on their faces to nourish, moisturize and soothe their skin.
Okay, now on to the good stuff. How do these new products work and why am I in love with them?
I’ll caveat that I have combination skin that airs on the side of oily vs. dry. So, naturally, I was really hesitant to try a cleansing oil because in my mind I kept thinking… oh no! Oil = breakouts!
Thankfully, I couldn’t be more wrong.
Oils actually bind with other oils (science!) which is why the Kefir Replenishing Oil Cleanser worked like magic and left my skin feeling super hydrated, smooth and most importantly, NOT greasy. When you first pump the cleanser into your hands it comes out like a liquid but it instantly transforms into a milky, soapy consistency as soon as you start washing your face.
So what does it do?
In short, the cleanser packs a pretty powerful punch. The probiotics and Kefir work to balance + hydrate your skin, while the other ingredients increase elasticity, radiance, and firmness while assisting in wrinkle reduction. Oh, and that soft, smooth feeling you get after cleansing is thanks to the Vitamin E and fatty acids.
The Kefir Moisture Repair Pressed Serum is probably the best moisturizer I’ve ever used. Most of the time I feel like other moisturizers and creams are too thick or too light — whereas this one is just the right consistency. It’s solid to touch but melts into your fingers. I freaked out a bit when I first swirled it all over my face because it does leave a residue — but after a few minutes the sheen goes away and all you’re left with is hydrated, soft, supple skin.
It’s become my go-to both in the morning and evenings. I’ve actually neglected my other moisturizers because I’m loving this one so much. 🙂
Benefits of a hybrid serum
You all know I’m all about convenience, so anything that cuts my routine in half is a winner in my book from the start. But what I really love about this combo is that it soothes and hydrates your skin while also working to soften lines and wrinkles (because ya know – I’m almost 30), decrease the appearance of pores, and improve overall tone and texture.
Overall, I highly recommend both of these products and hope you enjoy them as much as I do! Feel free to use code: “HEADSTANDS“ for 20% off on any Tula skincare and free shipping on orders over $30.
Ta ta for now, babes.
