What do you get when you bring together 15 fitness enthusiasts at a very Instagrammable aerial yoga studio in NYC? A whole lot of flying, flipping and fun!
Last weekend I had the pleasure of hosting my very first Fitness & Lifestyle Blogger Meetup at Studio Anya in Flatiron. I was so excited to bring to fruition what had begun as a random idea a few months earlier. After stumbling upon Anya on Instagram and realizing it was on ClassPass, I knew I had to give the studio a try. I instantly fell in love with the bright, airy space with it’s array of window lined foliage and lavender silks hanging from the ceiling. Aerial yoga has been such a great addition to my traditional yoga practice – so much so that I wanted to share it with others in THIS blog post.
It wasn’t long after I wrote the post that I started to get tons of messages and emails from Instagram friends expressing their interest in taking a class together at Anya. I guess you can say the idea of a Meetup just seemed like the best way to make this possible! I loved the idea of bringing people together – some of whom I had never met in real life – to enjoy a fun, healthy activity. Obviously, the fact that it would result in some awesome photos was just a huge perk. 😉
Thankfully the amazing team at Anya was super on board with the idea of a Blogger Meetup and made the planning incredibly easy on my part. I’ll admit, I was really nervous that no one would show up! So much so that I had originally asked Anya if they would be willing to post on their Instagram to get more people excited, if my post didn’t generate enough interest.
You guys… I was blown away with how fast the slots filled up after my announcement. You all filled up the class within the first 48 hours!! Seriously, thank you so much for wanting to come and fly with me!
On the day of the Meetup, I had the pleasure of hanging out with all the amazing girls who I had mostly only interacted with on Instagram. And I have to say… we had such a great time!! Sunny led us through a 45 minute inversion filled class, teaching us all the awesome tricks and flips that make aerial yoga so thrilling. Afterwards, Anya kept the studio space open for us for another 30 minutes so we could do what a bunch of bloggers do best, take photos!
Here are a few of my favorites:
And I think the below photo captures one of everyone’s favorite moves. Yep, betcha never thought butt floss could look this graceful.😂
Thank you to all the wonderful people who came out and posted about the event! For the girls that were waitlisted, don’t worry, Anya has graciously agreed to let me host another Meetup in May. And this time I’ll probably have a few goodie bags for all of you too.
More details to come! In the meantime please go and follow all the gals who attended. They’re pretty damn inspiring if you ask me.

Any chance you can share with me the steps to get into this pose? Thank you! It’s beautiful! https://headstandsandheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/aerial-yoga-studio-anya.jpg
It’s the one where the legs are wrapped, and the silk comes up in the center of the legs.
Thank you!
