We’re officially in the heart of Autumn and it’s one of the most beautiful times to be in New York City. With the temperature slowly dipping down into the mid 40s and low 50s, I love nothing more than bundling up in a sweater and scarf, fixing up a cup of steaming hot cocoa, and walking Nina down to the park. The leaves that line these cobblestone streets are various shades of red, orange and yellow – and when the wind is particularly strong all the leaves come falling off the trees in a shower of golden hues.
As the seasons have changed, so has my makeup. Summer calls for tan, dewy skin and a “barely there” makeup approach. Fall however is when you can finally start busting out the copper and bronze shadows and darker lipstick shades. That’s why I was so delighted to partner up with Red Apple Lipstick to bring you this cozy Fall makeup look!
I discovered Red Apple Lipstick through a dear friend of mine who has recently turned vegan. In the process, she’s been trying out different vegan makeup brands and RAL turned up in her Petit Vour box last month. As I’m always on the lookout for new cruelty-free makeup brands to add to my collection, I knew I had to try out their lipstick and eyeshadows for myself! They’re actually the first natural makeup products I own and I have to say, I’m in LOVE.
So here’s the lowdown on Red Apple Lipstick:
- They’re made in small batches here in the USA
- All their products are formulated without parabens, gluten, dairy, petroleum or harsh chemicals
- Lipsticks are allergen free and filled with Vitamin E
- 42 shades of lipstick, 8 shades of glosses, 6 shades of lip liners and over 40 different eyeshadow colors to choose from
- They offer a 6 month back guarantee where they will refund you 100% of your money if you don’t love their products
Okay, on to the makeup look! I prepped my face with my normal primer and foundation. Then added some bronzer and blush to give my face more of a healthy glow. After lining my eyes with eyeliner and filling in my brows, it was time to play with my new shadows and lipstick from Red Apple Lipstick.
The lip color is called ‘Barcelona’ which is a beautiful brownish-red hue. The color is very saturated and swipes on super easily with a very silky feel. I applied once, blotted with tissue paper and then reapplied to ensure the look would last. Once the lipstick dries the appearance is a bit semi-matte (definitely nothing like the Kylie Jenner lipsticks) but not glossy either. Instead there’s just a healthy, natural sheen.
You can immediately tell that the lipstick is packed with vitamin E because the texture is so smooth and moisturizing. I love me some matte lipsticks but the problem is most of them are incredibly drying, so having a lipstick that doesn’t make my lips shrivel up into a prune makes me very happy.
For my eyes, I applied their eyeshadow in ‘Bronze Bombshell’ all over the top lids up towards my eyebrows and a little just below my lower waterline. The color is a rich, warm bronze with golden undertones, which makes it super flattering for any eye color. Once that was properly blended, I added their eyeshadow in ‘Sand Castle’ to the inner corners of my eyes and right below the brow bone. Sand Castle is a light, nude peach color with a golden shimmer – so it pairs really nicely with Bronze Bombshell.
All their eyeshadows are mineral based and I was amazed at how pigmented they are! It doesn’t take much for your eyes to really pop.
Overall, I would highly recommend Red Apple Lipstick products to anyone who is looking for more natural, cruelty-free products to add to their makeup bag! Don’t forget to follow them on Instagram & Facebook (where they typically share lots of great giveaways and coupons with their fans).
I hope you all have a lovely and cozy weekend!
