Hey hey and happy Friday! I’m excited to share two things that have officially made my list of favorites this week: Bandier and ModelFIT. I’ll start with Bandier, because really these two kind of go hand in hand. Well, at least they do for me.😉
If you’ve been following me on Instagram you’ll most likely recognize Bandier as the company who styled me for the Propel workout party back in July. BTW it’s pronounced: ban-deer not ban dee ay 👈 which is what I was calling it because for some reason I thought it’d be more fun with a french accent. Hehe After seriously sweating it out in one of the toughest mash up workouts I’ve ever experienced, I had the pleasure of meeting Bandier’s social media manager, Jacqueline. We’ve kept in touch ever since and as of last week she officially invited me to join the #BandierGIRL crew! (*squeals in delight)
For those of you who are shaking your head wondering what the heck Bandier is, let me just preface that they’re cool AF. Think of them as a hub of fashionable fitness wear sporting some of the most sought after brands; i.e. Alo, Spiritual Gangster, Adidas by Stella McCartney, Beyond Yoga, Onzie, etc. They have two locations in NYC; their flagship store in Flatiron and another store in the Upper East Side. For those of you who aren’t in the area, no worries – you can find them online at Bandier.com.
I am obsessed with all three of my outfits and highly recommend each of them. See below for deets!
Top: Phat Buddha (color no longer available)// Bottoms: Ultracore (color no longer available)
Why I love it: The top is incredibly soft and comfy, plus I love the color. The bottoms are high-waisted and come with built in underwear (say what?!) which is a HUGE game changer. The material kind of resembles a wet-suit, but like… a very chic wet-suit. Bonus: they garner lots of compliments.
Top: Phat Buddha // Bottoms: Varley
Why I love it: This top is everything I could ever want. It’s soft, flattering, comfortable and has a built in bra. The bottoms are super sweat-wicking and I adore the gold zip detail. Plus the pattern is lovely, even if Bay thinks they look like blueberry swirl cheesecake. I for one love cheesecake, so it’s a perfect match.
Top: Wear It To Heart (WITH) // Bottoms: Wear It To Heart (WITH)
Why I love it: For one, the bottoms are reversible (click the model image to see what the other print looks like). Also – they’re high waisted, eco-friendly and the colors remind me of Florida. I’ll definitely be wearing this on the beach when I go back home!
Beyond just a retail store, Bandier also has a fitness studio called Studio B – a place where “fashion, fitness and music go to play.” I’ll be checking it out for the first time next week (more to come on that later) but I’ve seen plenty of Instagram photos and it looks amazing. Some of the classes they host include: ModelFIT, The Class, New York Pilates and Yoga For Bad People. Which leads me into my second “Friday Favorite”…
Those of you who know me personally know I am not a morning person, so early workouts are a huge struggle. Nevertheless I managed to roll myself out of bed at 6:30AM this morning to get ready for my first class at ModelFIT. I mean, when you’re invited by Bandier to attend a complimentary class you just suck it up and do it. You can see a little preview of my morning on my Instagram Story (hurry – it’ll disappear tomorrow!)
I first heard of ModelFIT last year when I was reading an article in Cosmo about how Victoria’s Secret models get in shape for the VS Fashion Show. As you may have guessed, most of them have rigorous training sessions at this exclusive boutique fitness studio in NYC (located at 212 Bowery).
The space is small but sufficiently airy with large floor to ceiling mirrors that span the entire length of the space and large windows facing the street. There are complimentary lockers and lots of great post workout products in the changing room to help you quickly freshen up before heading out.
As for the workout itself, it was SO fun and very challenging. It was hands down one of my favorite non-yoga classes that I’ve tried thus far in the city. The music was pumping and the instructor was really great at leading us through the hour workout. ModelFIT incorporates a mix of Pilates, Yoga, dance, cardio, balance, stability, and functional strength training. Essentially it’s a little taste of everything and is definitely designed to keep your muscles strong and lean.
The hardest part of the workout is when we slapped on ankle weights and had to do a series of Pilates moves that really targeted the hips and glutes. Think lots of slow controlled movements on your hands and knees. For my yoga friends, we were essentially doing different variations of tiger pose and extended tabletop but with weights on our ankles… and about 20 reps on each side. Oh. my. word. My booty was on fire. No wonder the VS Angels look so good.
I’m excited to go back and try it again – I’ll probably do the “ModelFIT Sculpt” class at Studio B to see what that’s like! For those of you who are in the city and want to try a class together, let me know! I’m always down to meet new fittie friends.
I hope you all have the best weekend!
